ENHANCED LOOK
Architectural shingles are the high- quality, reliable choice for protecting your home while also enhancing its look. With the widest array of color options in their class, shingles allow you to create or re-create the perfect look for your home with confidence.
SOUND REDUCING
Shingles can reduce external noise. The composition of asphalt shingles and the underlayment used in a shingle roof have sound insulation properties.
LEAST EXPENSIVE
Shingles roof systems are the least expensive roof system in the market. They are def the best option if you are planning on selling your home soon.
LIGHTWEIGHT
Because of their relatively light weight, asphalt shingles can be used on most residential roofs, including those that might be unable to support heavier materials like concrete or clay tiles.
Impact-Resistant (Class 4) Shingles in South Florida
Class 4 impact-resistant shingles add a reinforced backing that resists the wind-driven debris that punches holes in standard architectural shingle roofs during South Florida storms. Every impact-rated shingle system Roofweiler installs carries a Miami-Dade Notice of Acceptance (NOA) for HVHZ wind ratings, and many Florida insurance carriers offer a premium credit for Class 4 roofs (verify with your specific carrier). If you're weighing shingle against a longer-life material, compare it to our metal roofing and tile roofing pages.
Are impact-resistant shingles worth it in Florida?
For most South Florida homes, yes — Class 4 impact-resistant shingles resist wind-driven debris better than standard architectural shingles and often qualify for a homeowner insurance premium credit (verify the exact discount with your specific carrier). The tradeoff is a higher material cost upfront, which for many homeowners pays back through the ongoing insurance savings.
How long does an asphalt shingle roof last in South Florida heat?
A properly installed asphalt shingle roof in South Florida typically lasts 15-20 years. Constant UV exposure and high humidity shorten shingle lifespan compared to metal (40-70 years) or tile (50+ years), which is why many homeowners treat shingle as the lower-upfront-cost option rather than the longest-life option.
Do I need a permit to replace a shingle roof in Miami-Dade?
Yes. Any roof replacement in Miami-Dade County — including shingle re-roofs — requires a building permit, and all materials must carry Miami-Dade Notice of Acceptance (NOA) for HVHZ wind compliance. Roofweiler handles permit submission before crews mobilize, so you don't have to navigate the county process yourself.
Roofweiler installs shingle roofs across Miami-Dade County (including Cutler Bay), Broward County (including Miramar), and Palm Beach County (including Greenacres).
